FATHER’S DAY FAMILY FAIR AT
SEYMOUR COTTAGE
Sunday 4 September 2022
Our President Dimity Reed has shared her review of our day: ‘A small crowd, including the Health Minister, Mary-Anne Thomas, gathered at Sidney Seymour Cottage to celebrate the re-opening of the Cottage after five years of closure. The Society refurbished the interior of the Cottage to present it as the family home that it once was. An enthusiastic audience enjoyed Fiona Webber’s garden walk-and-talk; Guy Murphy’s research into the early history of the Cottage; and Fay Woodhouse explained the connection between Seymour Cottage and Tahbilk Wines. Uptown Brown entertained the visitors with his lively music, Pass-the-Parcel painted children’s faces, we served sandwiches and afternoon tea, the Romsey Lions Club held a sausage sizzle and Deep Creek Landcare gave garden information and sold plant.
Visitors purchased the Society’s latest publications as well as Cottage memorabilia. A momentous re-opening of the Cottage after so many years of closure.’
