A special Father’s Day Family Fair will be held on Father’s Day, Sunday 4 September at Sidney Seymour Cottage, Romsey. Focusing on the spring garden, visitors will be welcomed to enjoy the ambience of the grounds and the historic cottage. Food and drink will be on sale, and representatives of many local gardening clubs, societies and associations will have information stalls.
The Historical Society are excited to announce that we have two special guests for the day. Our first guest is former ABC TV Gardening Australia personality, John Patrick of John Patrick Landscape Design. At 12.00 noon John will entertain and inform us with a wide-ranging talk, including, amongst other things, historic gardens he has known! Who better to talk to us about the Seymour Cottage Garden than John who has recently completed the Garden Conservation Plan as part of our Living Heritage grant from Heritage Victoria. At 1.00 pm our second guest speaker will be historian Guy Murphy. Who better to tell us all about the the Cottage than the historian who researched the history for the just completed Conservation Management Plan. He will present his findings on the property - a subject local Romsey residents will be keen to hear about.
We will offer sandwiches, scones/slices, tea or coffee, live music, wine tastings and more. The gates will open from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. At our Family Fair, you will be able to purchase trees from Mt William Advanced Nursery, wine from Tahbilk Wines, the latest publications from the Historical Society - and more!
Entry $10.00 single and $20.00 family groups. Enquiries phone Fay Woodhouse on 0427 042 753.
