Visit historic Seymour Cottage, Romsey in the autumn! Built around 1855, the town’s earliest settlers who lived in this pre-fabricated cottage for over 60 years. It was imported from Singapore in the 1850s and is a rare example of a portable building. It is one of only 98 such buildings in Australia - one of 62 in Victoria.
There will be much to enjoy at Seymour Cottage: a traditional Afternoon Tea of sandwiches, scones, jam & cream - and of course tea or coffee; a photographic exhibition of historic photographs of Seymour Cottage, Romsey and its surrounds; and the sounds of a quartet playing music of the nineteenth century.
The Society’s latest publication - Seymour Cottage Romsey: 165 years of History and Heritage by Fay Woodhouse will be available for purchase.
Entry by donation. Afternoon Tea supplied by the Uniting and the Anglican Church can be purchased.
